The Water is Back

With no thanks to any of our Dartmouth Councilors who did not even answer my emails the pond has water again, just in time for the big CanCan Regatta on September 6-7 at Sullivan’s Pond.

I also emailed the Mayor and I did get a response from his people who spoke to staff who basically said they have a schedule to move the dam up and down and would not be lowering it, even a little for a few days for the model boat club.

It makes you wonder why people bother to organize events in this city. We did not ask for money or police to close streets or close the park to everyone else and still we get treated like we are plague carriers.

Racing will take place this Sunday August 31-25 13:00 to 15:30 weather permitting.

The CANCAN regatta has racing scheduled Saturday Sep 6-25 10:00 – 15:30 and Sunday Sep 7-25 10:00 – 14:30 with a prize presentation taking place approximately 15:00. Spectators are welcome and free to interact with the sailors during breaks in the action.

Our first ever Mini 12 regatta, the “B Rig Sitting Down” Regatta. We picked a beautiful day to break out the new class. The B rig is the same as a Soling 1M rig, so we have lot’s of them to employ. Boots came from nowhere when he saw the shift on the water to win race 1. From there, it was tough sailing as we switched from starting north to south. We brought our chairs and relaxed and sailed and had a great time.
