The annual Bill Traill Regatta was held on June 9, 2019, bringing together the club to share memories of Bill and a fun day of sailing. It was a beautiful day, with light winds to start and building through the day. A ‘Terra Beata Blueberry juice’ toast to Bill was held and the day’s sailing was paused for a snack of fruit and vegetable trays prepared by Barb Lovitt and Ben Rusi.

Don McDermaid told of his funniest memory of Bill sailing his boat in Sullivan’s Pond and doing so poorly.  He passed off his boat and asked someone else to sail it and see what was wrong with it. The boat won the next two races and Bill surmised that there wasn’t anything wrong with it.

Extra thanks to Ben Rusi who also took time to repair the three launching wharves and made a new table for the utility pole. Ben is a great promoter of sailing at the Cranberry Pond site and along with Victor Lovitt makes it possible for us to sail there in comfort.

Soling 1M Racing Results April 14, 2019

Today was the first day racing for 2019, and the first day ever for a few of our newest members.
It takes a little time to learn how to make a Soling go, learn the adjustments and then compete. The HAMYC is a great place to learn, so don’t let the learning curve get you down. For beginners, you can start with 20 seconds left on the countdown until you win a race. After your first win you can start with 10 seconds left in the countdown. When you win a second race you are starting with the fleet!
