Five showed up last night for the “drifter”. We got in only three races, one lap per race. It took me 27 minutes from the last mark, cross the line and work my way back to shore. We did have great fellowship.
In my 17 years with the club sailing at the pond I have never seen the weeds so bad. Every race, every boat was affected. One race I needed to bring the boat in three times on one leg to remove the weeds, I actually had a small branch caught on the rudder as well.
We have had lots of rain lately, maybe that’s bringing weeds from Lake Banook. There is both eel grass as well as a murky light green mossy type weed that clings to the keel and rudder.
Ironically, with all the rain, the pond level is still very low.
